Candidate for South Holland and The Deepings
I am proud to have been selected as the Green Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for South Holland and the Deepings.
I have been active in politics most of my adult life, having been a (Labour) City Councillor in Cambridge in the late 1980s. Some years ago I left Labour and joined the Green Party because I became convinced that the threats of climate change and global environmental catastrophe were not being seriously addressed by any other party. Since moving to Lincolnshire I have stood twice as a district council candidate and once as county council candidate. I am also the secretary of the Green Party’s East Midlands region.
I live in Spalding with my wife Heather, who is a board member of an important local museum and charity. I write a monthly column for the Lincs Free Press newspaper based on some of the more eye-catching items from the museum’s collections. My two adult sons live in Cambridge and London. I have a PhD in Anglo-Saxon literature, and in my spare time, such as it is, have published two novels and a volume of poetry.
