Candidate for Sheffield, Brightside and Hillsborough

Christine Gilligan Kubo

Green Party General Election Candidate

I lived in Hillsborough for over 20 years and I work as a university lecturer where I champion ethical and responsible business practices
I am standing as a Green Party representative because I believe it is time for change.
Those at the top may have got wealthier but this has been at the expense of those further down the ladder.
Bailing out big business / banks at tax payers expense and the agenda of austerity has created a race to the bottom in terms of living standards, with insecure employment, zero hours contracts and low wages. I don’t believe that people in the world’s 6th richest economy should have to rely on hand outs from foodbanks to feed their children.
Equally important, continuing with business as usual is also destroying our planet. It is damaging our natural environment – polluting the air and water supplies, depleting natural resources, and causing climate change. We only have one planet and we need to protect it and we need a party that will take this seriously to bring about the changes that are required to address the urgent climate crisis.
I want to protect our valuable natural resources, and create an economy that works for the common good – for all of us – not just those at the top.
And I want to see public services safe in public hands – an end to the privatisation of the NHS as part of a fairer balanced economy that protects our planet for future generations.
