Candidate for North Herefordshire
Ellie has lived in the constituency for 17 years, at Canon Frome near Ledbury. She has two teenage sons who attend local schools. Ellie was elected as the first Green MEP for the West Midlands in May 2019. She has also served as a Herefordshire Councillor since November 2017, for the ward of Bishops Frome and Cradley.
Previously, Ellie worked at the University of Birmingham as a lecturer in International Development. Before that, she worked for charities including Voluntary Service Overseas and Christian Aid. She has worked on peace-building in Northern Uganda, water supply in Malawi, and fuel poverty in east London. She volunteers for ECHO Herefordshire, and has served as a primary school governor and HomeStart volunteer.
Ellie says: "I’m delighted to be the Green candidate for North Herefordshire. It’s time for change! The old political system is broken, and we need some fresh Green thinking. I’m proud to have served my local community as a Councillor and as an MEP. But I know that the big decisions that shape the future of this country are made in Westminster.
I’m standing because I believe North Herefordshire deserves better. We need a principled, hard-working and effective MP. The success of the Greens in Herefordshire shows that our positive and practical ideas appeal to people all across the political spectrum. It’s time for change in North Herefordshire!”
