Candidate for Grantham and Stamford

Anne Gayfer

Green Party General Election Candidate

I have lived in Grantham for 20 years and my children went to local schools. During this time, I was a school governor and helped out at their schools. I’ve also worked in various roles in schools, including mentoring young people.

My career has mainly been in the civil service and local government. I’ve worked in housing, environment, local government finance and benefits, including managing housing improvement programmes, researching water quality issues and helping people claim benefits.

As part of the government’s climate change programme,I worked with the Carbon Trust to develop ways of making carbon savings for local authorities and schools. I also devised and ran workshops to facilitate the development of local resilience plans. This included, for example, how to respond in the case of severe flooding.

I joined the Green Party because I am committed to saving our beautiful and diverse planet.

I am a volunteer for the Bumble Bee Conservation Trust and the Grantham Wyndham Park Forum where I have set up a local biodiversity group, secured funding and planted hedgerows, put up bird, swift and bat boxes. I have also renovated and look after the Forest School, which is used by local junior schools who are engaged in education through nature.

I have an allotment, work as a theatre volunteer and I am a reflexologist.
