Candidate for Blaydon

Diane Cadman

Green Party General Election Candidate

I am honoured to stand as Green Party candidate for Blaydon at the General Election. I am Green Party local election candidate for Crawcrook and Greenside ward, standing in 2018 and 2019 achieving a strong second place.
I live in the constituency at Greenside, and come originally from a mining community in Shropshire. As an Occupational Therapist, I worked in both the NHS and as a professional lecturer in the region until retirement.
Since then I have helped to launch Transition West Gateshead (TWiG): a group working on local green initiatives and strengthening communities. They and the Green Party helped to get Gateshead Council to declare a climate emergency in May. I have also volunteered with the Our Villages group on the dog fouling campaign in my village of Greenside. I have been a trustee with a local music charity for asylum seekers.
This is a climate election! Only the Green Party have a vision to meet the climate crisis; business as usual will not achieve the all important zero carbon by 2030.
Our ambitious budget proposals to fund the decarbonising of every sector of our economy, demonstrate how seriously Greens take the threats we face. Action now can make healthier carbon neutral lifestyles possible for all; including expansion of public transport, reduced pollution, affordable renewable energy and sustainable home building.
A green voice can influence these changes across the constituency and make a national contribution to the changes our country needs to move to a just and equal society.
