Candidate for Beckenham
I am a longstanding Beckenham resident and volunteer at a local school. I have a new baby grandson!
As an infant teacher I taught long term in Bermondsey and Forest Hill, fostering a love of learning, and insuring inclusion in all activities regardless of gender, race or disability.
An active member of CND; Bromley Against Fracking; Bromley Trades Union Council; Friends of the Earth; ‘RSPB-giving nature a home’ and Stand Up To Racism. I celebrate diversity.
I have petitioned to ‘Save Beckenham Toilets’, ‘Keep the Hunting Ban’, ‘20 mph Speed Limits Outside Bromley Borough Schools’. I campaign to bring railways back into public ownership; stop privatisation of the NHS; fund education and stop closures of Nursery Schools and Adult Education.
I joined the Green Party because it has always recognised the issue of Climate Change and see a Green Eco- Friendly Economy and Social Justice as going hand in hand. To tackle climate change, a Green government will provide everyday social benefits, eg free bus travel for all, instead of spending £62b on HS2 rail; insulate homes to eliminate fuel poverty; make it easier and more economical for people to choose environmentally friendly options; 4bn new jobs in renewables.
I am proud of our Green Members of the European Parliament for their achievements on environmental issues; workers’ rights and animal welfare.
Greens are strong ‘remainers’, consistent in supporting a referendum on the final Brexit deal.
I am standing for an ethical, inclusive, united party, seeking a fairer society.
